For the record, I really do love Highlander stories, but I love them the way that a frat boy loves beer or a catholic loves prostitutes. I'm all giddy before hand, but afterward, I feel nauseous, dirty, and even a little guilty.

When a Highlander story is done right, it's an epic adventure spanning centuries pondering on existential questions of morality and mortality, revenge and romance, regret and redemption. And when it's done wrong, it's an adolescent melodramatic sci-fi power fantasy. And, unfortunately, more often that not, the six movies and three TV shows have fallen into the latter category. And so--like many fans--I wait ever so impatiently for someone to come along and make Highlander good again.

You feel nervous about the remake, don't you?
