Apparently Christmas season is upon us again. Tacky lights are being stapled to tacky houses; Christmas carols are blaring out of department store speakers and out of small children’s faces; and just last night I was visited by old St. Nick.

He came in through the bathroom window, dressed in black with a ski mask pulled low over his face so that I wouldn’t recognize him. I knew it was him though, I recognized the smell of skunk and sweat from the last time that Santa robbed me blind—back in September. As per usual, he took away my TiVo, Wii, iPod, iPhone, and other such electronics with mysteriously lower case i’s. He does this periodically, but I’m still trying to figure out what he’s trying to tell me.

Is it that the true meaning of Christmas isn’t about stuff, and I should get rid of distractions that focus on i so that I can pay more attention to us. Or is he trying to get rid of my old dingy shit so that I can get people to buy me new shiny shit? Probably the latter.

Anyway, this time Santa Claus left me with a few little somethings. A black eye and some broken ribs. It reminded me that the whole CHRISTmas thing is about sharing, you know, the way that Jesus shared his blood with the thirsty wise men and vampires when they were out in the dessert or desert, or however the story goes.
