It's the tuft of hair that makes it disturbing, and the eyeball that makes it genius.

Today's guest artist is the tactile dactyl DADICUS. If DADICUS were an acronym it would almost certainly stand for Doubly Awesome Dude In Cool's United States. To see more of his work, check out his deviantArt page.

For anyone keeping score, this is actually the third time E has died in the pages of The Cutting Room. The first time was when he tried to catch a missile, and the second was when he watched Scott Pilgrim. C has also died in our pages. First when E stared at him, and second when he was mauled by a bear. I guess all I'm saying is, "Don't worry, we'll be back on Thursday with another strip."

I also want to say, I do sometimes worry that mass entertainment is the real opiate of the masses. I heard a story back in the 90's of a college professor doing research into television. He wanted to see how different demographics were represented. As part of his data collection, he called in favors from friends, family, and colleagues, and recorded a full day of the 100 most popular channels. The results of his study didn't strike me as particularly interesting, but his methodology did. In order to watch that one day of television, he had to sit in front of the TV for twelve hours a day for six months. That's nuts. And it speaks to how inundated with entertainment we are.

Of course, now it's worse. Youtube adds new videos ten times faster than anyone could watch them. Blogs are released a brazillion times faster than anyone can NOT read them. Movies. Magazines. Webcomics. Tweets. Podcasts. Radio. There's far more entertainment than we ever could consume, and I wonder sometimes if it's all more than a little too much.

Just a thought,
C

Skyline gave me the Human Centipede [Posted by Monty (Guest) on 12 Dec 2010 10:16 pm]

I saw Skyline and I'm pretty sure that movie gave a stomach virus that I named the Human Centipede virus.
