The Matrix Vs. Tron - 15 Dec 2010 11:01 pm
Matron sounds cool if you pronounce it May-tron, but as soon as you realize it's an old woman, it's less awesome.

It's not often that we use the same artist twice, but when I had the idea for this strip, I knew my man Dadicus--who recently did the art chores for our Skyline strip--would be perfect for the job. To see more of his uber-oeuvre check out his deviantArt page.

We recently did a strip about The Matrix and it's kindred movies which focus on being trapped in a fabricated reality. I can think of a half-dozen movies that came out with a couple of years of one another that followed that same premise. A decade later, we seem to be on the other side of it. We want access to virtual worlds. We want out of body experiences. We want escape. The new Tron and Avatar both seem to follow that trend. So does the upcoming Hugh Jackman film based on (I kid you not) Rock'em Sock'em robots. What the hell happened between the desire to wake-up and the desire to escape? I guess we saw what the world looks like.
