I watch a lot of police procedurals and there's something interesting going on with the police chief character. Psych's police chief is a female, and Castle's is a man of color. Law & Order, The Good Guys, The Mentalist, The Glades, and Memphis Beat all have police chiefs who are women of color. If it were just one show, I wouldn't say it was racist or sexist, but it's prevalence is indicative of something, I think.
