This strip isn't so much about the movie Legion or even about religion. It's about borrowing and stealing.

Today's art was done by the very cool ps99, who runs the 3D webcomic Winger. Check it out and you can see characters doing more than just standing around and talking. We just borrowed his talent.

Aaron Sorkin once wrote, "Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright." At the time I thought that was the cleverest thing I'd ever heard and that Sorkin must be the second coming of Christ. But then I found out that decades before T.S. Eliot wrote, "Mediocre Writers Borrow; Great Writers Steal." And then my brain exploded because Sorkin stole a line about stealing. That would prove that he's a great writer if everything else he'd ever written hadn't done it already.

Anyway, all that is to say is that we stole the last lines from Bill Hicks. Maybe, just maybe, that makes it homage. But Mr. Hicks had some clarifying thoughts on God, and it seemed appropriate to include them here. Oh yeah, and the middle panel is Grand Theft Theodicy too. I stole the concept from Archibald MacLeish who wrote in a play that "If God is God, He is not good; if God is good, He is not God." But Archie stole the idea from someone before him. Nothing new under the sun and all that. Essentially, why would an omnipotent omni-benevolent allow bad things to happen? Somehow that question doesn't bother me that much. And when it does, I just borrow a little of E's faith.

Go steal or borrow something, won't you?
