Today’s art was done by the amicable, the amiable, the ever-affable Edwin Beechert. The guy’s got skill, as you can see, but you really ought to check out his portfolio to see how broad his range is. In a few years, maybe in a few months, maybe even tomorrow, people will say, “Did you know Edwin Beehert had a strip published in The Cutting Room.” And other people in approximate proximity will respond in unison, “What the fuck is The Cutting Room?”

I actually want to talk about something serious now. Heath Ledger died just over two years ago. I read about this death on January 23rd. I don’t remember the date because of his death but because of an article located right below the Ledger headline saying that several dozen Kenyans has been killed in what the U.N. referred to as “ethnic cleansing.” The murdered Kenyans, by the way, were at a prayer meeting; they were asking God to stop the violence.

I searched for a link to the NY times article for reference, but couldn’t find one. I found an article saying that nineteen people burned to death in a church; I found an article suggesting that politicians organized the killing; and I found a gem of an article at the BBC saying that the “Kenya violence unsettles markets

Heath Ledger died, and that’s sad. Because that guy had talent, and he had a daughter. I think it’s important to keep ourselves in perspective and know that on that day, there were others casualties as well.

Stick with me, won’t you?
