I am a nerd. About this there should be no confusion and it probably cannot be overstated. But I occupy an odd position on the geek totem. I do not enjoy the trappings of Stars War, Gate or Trek, excepting the new J.J. Abrahms incarnation which I dug very much. I am not socially awkward, and I do not fear women. In fact, I love women, and over the years, I have gathered significant evidence to support the theory that they love me. Like Blade, I am a daywalker, able to roam the grounds of both geek and non geek worlds. I can, in a single evening, sit comfortably and discuss why I hate the Yankees, proper technique for removing a bra with one hand, and how Adam X was clearly the third Summers brother. I can walk amongst The Others, but at the end of each day, am likely curled up with a copy of whatever Warren Ellis has most recently scraped out of his whiskey soaked brain, or I’m watching a DVD of Firefly. I am a nerd. And as such, whenever a product is aimed directly at myself and my people, I am skeptical. I do not, for example, believe that we require special, caffeinated soap. Regular soap will do just fine. For that matter, I don't require my Jerky to be perky, or for my breath mints, brownie mix, gum, lollipops or licorice to provide an energy boost. I don't think our geeky gamer faces are so different from The Others that we must have our own razors.

With this in mind when I was first confronted with The Big Bang Theory, I was wary to say the least. Here were many if not damn near all of the old stereotypes of my people that have plagued us for so long. We don't understand social mores, we can't talk to girls, we dress up as Hobbits at the drop of a damn hat etc. It's not that I found it particularly offensive, just cliché and trite. And a tad offensive. But then, somewhere around the second season, something happened: that shit got fucking funny. Many of the cliché's twisted, either into smoke or into something else. Something glorious. These guys don't play chess; they play secret agent laser obstacle chess. When they play Tetris they also arm wrestle, they Trestle. They are tied into today's memes but not held hostage by them and Jim Parsons' portrayal of Dr. Sheldon Cooper borders on sublime.

TL;DR: The Big Bang Theory is hip.

So we made a comic about it. And you should probably go watch it if you like. I'd start with Season 2.

Get a beverage of your choice and...Sheldon Cooper for the win.

You convinced me to watch the show. Congrats...why do I comment on almost every one? Because they're comment worthy. So there.
