We were exceptionally lucky to borrow the talents of Drew Sides for today’s strip--as if he wasn’t busy enough with his website and his comic Border Crossings. A very heartfelt thank you to him.

Today’s strip is only vaguely related to Splice because--well, I’m never never ever ever ever going to see it. Why? Because it mixes sex and violence and when I’m engaged in the former, I don’t want to associate it with the latter. And vice versa. If I’m murderizing someone, I don’t want to think of sex. That’s just wrong. But perhaps most importantly, if I’m getting my groove on, I don’t want to think for even a moment that my co-participant may be a genetic hybrid with a barbed penis tail.

You may say: “But this is an important movie about science overstepping its bounds.” To which, I say: How about I just watch the movie about the smart ass sharks? That or the Jurassic Park, Matrix, or Terminator series... es. What the fuck is the plural of series?

Seriei? Serious?

Anyway, I’m sure as shit not going to watch the Alien series, because that mixes sex and violence in some fucked up ways too. To hell with it, I’m just going to read Frankenstein, or better yet, I’m going to the source and reading the original myth of Prometheus, or at least the wiki article on it.

Don’t go turning yourself or anyone else into a monster, all right?

A million dollars a stake
As you search for your demi-god
And you fake with a saint
There's no sex in your violence”
